Justin Hearn graduated in chemical engineering from the University of Bradford, UK, in 1977.
He joined Babcock Woodall-Duckham Ltd., initially as a graduate trainee, and then as a commissioning engineer.
In 1980 he joined oilfield chemical manufacturer, Petrolite Ltd, as a Technical Sales Manager, initially based in Libya, and later throughout West Africa.
In 1990, he joined BASF as their Middle East Technical Advisor for oilfield chemicals, based in Dubai, and later working in the Russia oilfields.
Since 1995, Justin has been located in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and since 1998 he has been working in BASF’s Gas Treating Group. He is now the Industry Manager for natural gas / LNG applications, liaising with NOCs, IOCs and Engineering Contractors about their gas-sweetening requirements. His current role has an emphasis on process design, start-up and continuing optimisation of the operating plants. He still enjoys spending time on-site.
Between 2008 and 2010, Justin was Chairman of the Gas Processors Association (Europe), and since then continues to be an active member of both GPAE Programme and Management Committees. He is a director of the GPAE.
In 2010, he was invited to join the Programme Committee for the ADIPEC Conference in Abu Dhabi.
Since 2011, Justin has been co-Chair of the GPA (US) International Committee, and in 2015, he was presented with the GPA’s ‘Citation for Service’.
He is currently 61 years old, married, with two (mostly!) grown-up sons.
