This award recognises inspirational and creative leadership that has stood out during this incredibly challenging, unique year. With the immense challenges of a global pandemic, coupled with the urgent need to adapt business models to fit a low-carbon energy landscape, the energy industry has faced some of the greatest obstacles in its history during the previous year.

This award recognises an individual for their positive contributions that have impacted the ongoing success or improvement of their organisations, financially and culturally, whilst delivering on shared corporate objectives and in ensuring their organisation has developed a progressive and positive strategy in the new energy landscape.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Dynamic Leadership: The nomination has proven the ability to transform and evolve their business in the wake of key drivers including: COVID-19 pandemic response, climate action, energy transition, shifts in oil, gas & LNG prices, and demands from investors and shareholders to adapt – 25%

Respect Among Peers: The nomination has a high degree of respect and trust among peers at CEO level, with broad support visible in the public domain from these peers – 25%

Capabilities to Act & Implement: Demonstration of capabilities to deliver on high-value or high-profile major projects and to demonstrate successful strategic delivery across their organisation to achieve this – 25%

Financial Performance in Challenging Times: The nominee has successfully guided and steered their organisation through these particularly challenging, uncertain fiscal times and ensured their organisation is established on a robust and resilient pathway to financially grow and perform in the post-COVID-19, low-emissions energy future – 25%

An organisation that has delivered a Gas, LNG, or Hydrogen project that demonstrates excellence in several categories: within budget, on or ahead of schedule, underpinned with robust CSR and HSE practices, and in accordance with excellent levels of governance and stakeholder cooperation.

The Award will recognise a project of the year based on the specifics in the planning, implementation, cooperation, innovative practices, and CSR deliverables and in the overall delivery to budget and to timescales.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Planning: Demonstrates robust, thorough, and diligent planning of the project – 10%

Implementation: Effectively implements project plans and has delivered safely and competently – 20%

Cooperation with partners and stakeholders: Transparent, cooperative, and engaging project partnerships that demonstrate excellent teamwork – 20%

Corporate social responsibility: Undertook extensive and thorough CSR considerations and processes throughout the project resulting in a long-term positive outcome – 20%

On time and on budget: Ultimately delivered the final project successfully, on time and to budget – 30%

The need to reduce emissions by hydrocarbons producers has never been more urgent. This award celebrates an organisation that is going above and beyond in its policies and practices to deliver strategy or actions that reduce emissions and move progressively towards climate change commitments.

The Award will focus on the planning, implementation, strategic ambitions, and technical applications to solve emissions challenges across an organisation. This can be the tackling of emissions on a specific plant or project, across production or transmission infrastructure, or in the delivery of reductions across the entire hydrocarbons value chain.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Emissions policies and targets: Establishing or delivering on change management that directly impacts positively on the reduction of all GHG emissions across the business value chain – 30%

Strategic & Actionable plans: Are the organisation’s strategies and action points robustly applicable or merely a ‘box ticking’ exercise? Does the organisation demonstrate realistically achievable strategy? – 30%

Implementation of technology to deliver reductions: Which technologies and processes are being developed or rolled out across the organisation that will make positive impacts? – 20%

Reductions already delivered: Evidence that the organisation has already delivered on pledges to reduce GHG emissions, with evidence to support these claims – 20%

This award celebrates highly effective, results-driven partnerships in global energy engineering projects. The award could be presented to two or more JV partners working on either a single project, or across multiple projects, that have been active and progressed through 2020 into 2021. The projects do not have to be fully completed and/or operational but nominees must have demonstrated excellence in their processes, cooperation, task management, and delivery.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Partners in Innovation & Change-Management: Identification of inventive new applications in engineering strategy or engineering management that have impacted positively, or in the innovative implementation of existing technology that represents a major advancement or development in improving and progressing upon the current practices – 25%

Application of Improved Best-Practices: Demonstrating that new practices and applications have genuine benefits over existing methods and practices – 25%

Economic Benefits & Cost-Savings: Submission describes the competitive advantages, the relationship between cost and benefits, and the economic desirability of the project – 25%

Industry Legacy: Submission demonstrates its ability to move from a proof-of-concept trial to one that will be applicable and repeatable across the industry – 25%

Dedicated to an organisation that not only encourages and promotes workplace inclusivity but who has a proven track record of implementing and driving genuine change through improved processes, career and talent development, and by actively flagging issues around the equalising of opportunity regardless of gender, disability, sexual orientation or background. This organisation truly helps to shape a diverse and inclusive energy industry for the future that allows talent from all areas of society to achieve their potential.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Proactive Outreach: The submission demonstrates the use of innovative approaches, which have resulted in a step up from business as usual in the development of inclusion and diversity programmes – 25%

Tangible Impact: The submission provides evidence of making an impact beyond their immediate team/business area/department and is applicable across all levels of the organisation, including upper, middle and lower management – 25%

Results-Driven Effectiveness: The submission provides evidence that demonstrates how the project or programme is achieving tangible results – 25%

Legacy in D&I: The submission demonstrates positive outcomes arising from their initiative/ practice and can demonstrate the potential to leave a lasting legacy and establish new industry best practices – 25% 

Awarded to an individual under the age of 30 who shows immense promise, flair, and ambition and who is already recognised by their organisation as a potential future champion or expert in their field. This is an opportunity for organisations to shine a light on somebody special that they believe deserves international recognition.

The Future Energy Leader Under 30 Award will go to a professional who has shown the ability to become a key contributor to the future development of the industry and who has strong potential to reach senior management level.

Entries will be judged on the below criteria and weighting:

Flourishes Independently: Submission shows the candidate’s ability to adapt to the work environment, people, and unplanned situations – 20%

Management Approval: Personal recommendation from the candidate’s line manager or mentor – 20%

Early Career Impact: Candidates should have fewer than eight (8) years of professional experience and the submission will focus on what has been achieved during this first stage of the individual’s career – 20%

Leadership Skills: Submission shows evidence that the candidate displays leadership qualities and acts as a team player – 20%

Positive Influencer on Wider Team: The submission illustrates how the candidate influences other young professionals and displays potential to act as a role model to younger individuals moving into the industry – 20%
