Chris Barkey is Chief Technology Officer for the Industrial & Energy Technology business at Baker Hughes.In this role, he is accountable for engineering across the whole life cycle, from technology to new product introduction and in-service support. He is also the Chairman of the Baker Hughes Technology Leadership Council.

Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Chris enjoyed a 30-year career at Rolls-Royce where he covered a variety of engineering roles, reaching the Company Executive as Group Director, Engineering & Technology. In this role he was responsible for engineering across the entire company, covering a portfolio of civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine, nuclear, and power systems businesses.Chris is also a Non-Executive Director for MDS Aero Support Corporation and ELE Advanced Technologies Ltd.In July 2018, Chris was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Henry Royce Institute, the UK national institute for advanced material science, implementing a robust strategy and an executable operational business plan, as wells as building a collaborative and trust-based culture within the nine-member partnership.Chris has an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA with Distinction. He is a Chartered Engineer and was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2017, the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2016 and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in 2000.
