Bela Viertl is a Senior Investment Manager at Siemens' Financial Services (SFS) division where he is responsible for developing fossil power projects for SFS's Energy Finance team. In this role, he focuses on providing equity investment support to power projects in Europe, Africa and Middle East with specialities in finance, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and overall project development. Bela joined SFS in 2010 and has played key roles in a number of transactions, including the Electrogas Malta project which was the first LNG-to-Power project in Europe. Bela has more than 20 years of project development and finance experience and, for a majority of his career, has focused on supporting projects in the energy and natural resources sectors. Prior to joining Siemens, he was a commercial manager at Advanced Power, tasked with structuring power projects in Europe for the company. He also held a project developer role at AES and was responsible for developing and financing of strategic power projects for the company - from financial modelling and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs) to managing acquisitions and conducting due diligence. Bela was also a consultant at Deloitte and focused on corporate finance. Bela obtained his PHD degree in Micro-electronics from the Technical University of Budapest.
