Civil Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Specialist in Environmental Management at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá and a Master in International Relations from Ohio University.
Since January 2016, she serves as CEO of Grupo Energía de Bogotá (GEB), a leading corporate group in the Latin American electricity and natural gas markets with activities in electricity generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization, as well as natural gas transportation and distribution, in Colombia, Brazil, Perú and Guatemala. Ms Alvarez previously served as Administrative Manager of Colombian state oil company Ecopetrol and General Manager of the Bogota Water and Sewage Company, among other positions. She is currently a member of 7 Board of Directors of companies belonging to GEB.
Parallel to her professional career, Ms Alvarez actively supports the Foundation of Father Javier de Nicoló, which for more than 20 years has rehabilitated street children and youth in Colombia’s capital city.
