Mr. Ashish Chatterjee is currently serving as the Joint Secretary (Natural Gas) in Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. He has been administering natural gas programs and policies of India since September 2016. Mr. Chatterjee is an officer if the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the elite tier of the India bureaucracy. He has more than 19 years of experience in public affairs and government administration in various capacities at State and federal government level. He has been the head of large district governments in Tamil Nadu State, and administered urban services delivery and largescale infrastructure projects in Chennai, a metropolitan city with a population of over 6.5 million. Besides, he also administered Tsunami Rehabilitation works in the State Relief Commissioner’s office in the wake of the Tsunami-2004 disaster. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Chatterjee served in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Government of India as the Chief of Staff for the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. He advised and supported the Minister with the conceptualisation and implementation of important programs and numerous industrial policy and investment promotion initiatives of the Government of India for over three years. Mr. Chatterjee is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
