Dr. Joseph M. Gebara, is a seasoned executive with a proven track record of over twenty-eight years in the energy and infrastructure industries with experience in Onshore, Offshore and Floating LNG, as well as in industrial and residential buildings. Dr. Gebara’s is a member of the governing body of the Gastech. As the Senior Vice President of Project Delivery for SNC-Lavalin’s Oil & Gas sector, Dr. Gebara was responsible for governance and oversight over projects as well as providing resources, systems and tools for proposals and projects. Prior to SNC Dr. Gebara held the roles that included: Director of Engineering Services at McDermott, General Manager of the Offshore Business Line for Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, during which time he expanded their business offering for floating LNG, topsides and subsea projects. Dr. Gebara also held the role of Vice President Floating Systems Operation at Technip and previously led Technip North America’s Deepwater Engineering division. Dr. Gebara started his career in the Oil and Gas industry at Amoco where he was an engineering specialist on Deepwater, brownfield and decommissioning projects Dr. Gebara has worked closely with the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and the UK Health and Safety Executive on several initiatives, including developing new technology for decommissioning platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. He has also served as a member of the U.S. Ocean Energy Safety Advisory Committee, advising the U.S. Department of Interior on changes in regulation post-Macondo. Dr. Gebara is a member of the American Petroleum Institute’s Subcommittee on Offshore Structures since 2000. After graduating from the American University of Beirut with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Dr. Gebara went on to achieve his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in structural engineering and applied mechanics from Purdue University.
