Energy Business Leaders
Marcelino Oreja has been Enagás’ CEO since September 2012. In this role, he is actively leading the internationalization process that started in 2011 for successfully exporting Enagás’ leadership in energy infrastructures. He is also driving initiatives to promote the use of renewable gases, such as hydrogen and biomethane, to move towards decarbonisation and boosting innovation, digitalization and entrepreneurship in the company. In previous roles, he was General Secretary of the Spanish Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs and founder of the patents and trademarks company DEF-4. He held other senior positions including International Director at Aldeasa and Chairman of railway company FEVE. Oreja is a Patent and Trademark Agent and holds a degree of Industrial Engineering. He was a Member of the European Parliament between 2002 and 2004 and a board member of the Energy Agency of the Basque Government. He is also currently a Trustee of the Transforma España Foundation, member of the Rey Juan Carlos University council and Executive Vice Chairman of Club Excelencia en Gestión.
