ZOU Caineng is a petroleum geologist born in Chongqing, China in September 1963. He graduated from Southwest Petroleum University in 1987 and received his PhD from CNPC Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) in 2004. In 2017, he was elected to be a member of Chinese Academy of Science (Academician of CAS). He is now Vice President of RIPED, the founding director of National Energy Tight Oil & Gas R&D Center and the director of National Energy Shale Gas R&D (Experiment) Center. He is mainly engaged in the theoretical geology research and exploration practice of conventional and unconventional oil & gas which promotes the strategy change for petroleum exploration and major discoveries in China, studying the development trend of world energy and putting forward China’s energy development strategies.
