bp’s purpose is reimagining energy for people and our planet. Our ambition is to become a net zero company by 2050 or sooner and to help the world get to net zero.
With operations around the globe - in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Australasia, Asia and Africa – we want to help the world reach net zero and improve people’s lives.
Our strategy will see bp pivot from being an international oil company to become an integrated energy company focused on delivering solutions for customers.
We believe natural gas has a key role to play for decades in helping the world get to net zero.
bp produces around six billion cubic feet of natural gas each day and we are involved in the entire gas value chain, from supplying upstream gas to liquefaction facilities, through transportation and storage to regasification and marketing.
Our Gas & Low Carbon Energy business integrates our global gas capabilities with significant growth in low and zero carbon businesses, including wind, solar and hydrogen.
We are growing our renewable energy business – we intend to invest in and build renewable energy capacity of 20GW globally by 2025 and 50GW by 2030.
We plan to further develop bioenergy interests to offer solutions for aviation, marine and heavy-duty transportation.
bp see opportunities to apply new decarbonization technologies and capabilities to create innovative zero carbon energy solutions, building a leading position in hydrogen and applying CCUS to help hard-to-abate industries decarbonize. In the UK, bp leads the Northern Endurance Partnership and proposed H2Teeside ‘blue’ hydrogen project.
bp trading & shipping supports the development of new gas opportunities, bringing integrated gas solutions to customers on a global scale. At any one time, about 300 ships are on the water for bp, moving around 240 million tonnes of oil, gas and products every year.
With gas in high demand for years to come, our LNG portfolio will play an important role in delivering more gas and reducing emissions. We aim to grow our integrated gas portfolio, which combines our equity gas, LNG and merchant portfolio.
As one of the world’s leading energy traders, we sell and move energy, integrating our products and services to provide energy solutions for 12,000 customers in 140 countries.
We use our scale, broad expertise, mix of bp assets and third-party relationships to optimise options for bp’s products and services.
