Dr. Joseph M. Gebara, is Senior Vice President of Project Delivery for SNC-Lavalin's Oil & Gas sector with a proven track record of over twenty years in the energy industry and brings a wealth of offshore experience & EPC project winning & execution to the company. In June 2017, Joe joined SNC-Lavalin from McDermott International Inc. where he was Director of Engineering Services. Prior to that Dr. Gebara held the role of General Manager of the Offshore Business Line for Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, during which time he expanded their business offering for floating LNG, topsides and subsea engineering projects. Dr. Gebara also held the role of Vice President of Floating Systems Operation at Technip and previously led Technip North America's Deepwater Engineering division and with Amoco as engineering specialist on Deepwater, brownfield and decommissioning projects Dr. Gebara is well regarded in the oil and gas industry. He has worked closely with the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and the UK Health and Safety Executive on several initiatives, including: developing new technology for decommissioning platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. He has also served as an advisor the US secretary of interior as part of the U.S. Ocean Energy Safety Advisory Committee and he has been a member of the American Petroleum Institute's Subcommittee on Offshore Structures since 2000, amongst others. Dr. Gebara has received the Jacques Franklin award for Technology and Innovation, the United States Achievement Award in Civil Engineering and the David Ross Fellowship in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. After graduating from the American University of Beirut with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Dr. Gebara went on to achieve his master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in structural engineering and applied mechanics from Purdue University.
