Francesco Caio is Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Saipem Group and Member of the Board of BNL - BNP Paribas. He has an extensive international experience as CEO of large industrial and service Groups. He was CEO and Managing Director of Poste Italiane where he led the privatization process with the largest European IPO of 2015. Before that he was CEO of Avio (jet engine technologies), Omnitel (today Vodafone Italy), Olivetti, Merloni Elettrodomestici (Indesit & Ariston domestic appliances), Netscalibur, Cable & Wireless, in London. He also has experience in investment banking where he was Chairman of the European Advisory Board of Lehman and Vice Chairman of Nomura in London. As non executive director he has served on various Boards including Motorola in the US, Equant in The Netherlands and Invensys in the UK. He advised the UK and Italian governments on national broadband plans and was Commissioner for the Digital Agenda in the Italian Cabinet.From 2018 to 2021 he has been Chairman of Saipem SpA, Chairman of ITA (Italia Trasporto Aereo) and Member of the Board of Fondazione Mattei and Guala Closures SpA.He is member of the Advisory Board of Politecnico di Milano, where he graduated in Computer science, and where he currently teaches management of technology innovation. He has an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainbleu.
