Mr. Haugane has since 2020 held the position as SVP for Gas & Power (G&P) in Equinor’s business area Marketing, Midstream and Processing (MMP). The responsibilities include marketing and trading of all Equinor’s equity gas and power production, including LNG and emissions certificates. Equinor brings to the European market around 80 bcm of pipeline gas every year. In addition, comes around 4.5 bcm of LNG from Europe’s only large-scale LNG plant at Hammerfest in Northern Norway. In addition to marketing and trading of these equity volumes. G&P also trade with third-party volumes on short- and longer-term basis as well as within financial trading. Equinor’s ownership of the Danish energy trading house Danske Commodities (DC) is handled by G&P and Mr. Haugane is DC’s Chairman of the board of directors. DC is a large player in Europe’s short-term markets for natural gas and electricity, averaging around 15,000 traders per day largely through algorithmic trading. M.Haugane joined Equinor in 2003 in a four-year corporate trainee program where he worked within oil trading, the Natural Gas Group, Project Control and the Corporate Planning Unit working with the Statoil/Hydro merger in 2007. After the merger, he took the role of Leading Advisor for Economic Analysis for upstream before heading the Analysis Unit in the Natural Gas segment. He relocated to London in 2011 to become Head of Business Control in Global Strategy and Business Development and in 2012 took the position as Vice President of Finance and Control for global strategy and business development, where he also held the position as the Managing Director for Equinor in the UK. In 2014, he relocated to Houston where held the position of Vice President, Finance and Control for Equinor’s North American business. In 2017 he moved back to Norway and held the position as Vice President Finance and control for the MMP business area. In 2020 He took the position as Senior Vice President for Equinor’s gas and power business. Helge holds a master’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics. He has previously served as a part-time lecturer in Finance at the University of Stavanger.

Current mandates: Mr. Haugane holds numerous board positions in Statoil’s subsidiaries and also serves as Chairman of the BoD of Danske Commodities, which is Equinor’s subsidiary for power and short-term 3rd party gas trading.
