Gastech 2023 Singapore launches in Milan

MILAN – Gastech, the world’s largest global exhibition and conference for the natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, low-carbon solutions and climate technologies, today held the launch ceremony of Gastech 2023, set to take place in Singapore next year.

Gastech 2023 will take place at a crucial moment for the global energy sector, when it returns to Singapore from 11-14 September in 2023.

A key trading hub in the economically and geopolitically significant Indo-Pacific region, Singapore is a vital link for the global energy supply chain. The decision to host Gastech 2023 in Singapore is a reflection of the city state’s reputation as one of the leading LNG markets, and the growing significance of natural gas and LNG to the dynamic economies of Asia and Australasia, both as a bridge fuel to a low-carbon energy system, and as a feedstock to the petrochemical industry.

As geopolitical events continue to intensify interest around energy security, there is a growing recognition that natural gas, LNG, and the hydrogen industry is uniquely placed to help the world meeting growing energy demands while enabling a just transition.

As part of the Gastech 2022 conference currently taking place in Milan, Italy, the launch event highlighted the exciting potential for Gastech’s 2023 edition to showcase the innovations of both Singapore and the wider Asian energy value chain. Speaking at the event Lee Pak Sing, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Singapore, told the audience:

“Over the last few days, we have had many conversations on the driving forces affecting the future of energy, geopolitics, energy transition, and market volatility, and we will continue these conversations when Singapore takes over as host of Gastech 2023.

“We are a global energy hub, host to all of the major petrochemical companies and energy trading companies. We are also a global LNG hub, home to over 60 companies buying, selling, and marketing LNG through Singapore, as well as the world’s largest bunkering centre, which has set the standards for LNG bunkering. Singapore is therefore an ideal place to host Gastech 2023. I promise you an exciting programme at Gastech in Singapore, and we invite you to join us on this journey.”

Sarah Howell, Vice President of Gastechalso spoke, emphasising the significance of Gastech’s return to the Asian market and the new initiatives for 2023:

“We are hugely excited to look ahead to next year on another continent, and to making Gastech 2023 an even greater success. We believe that Asia will play a central role in achieving energy stability and delivering the sustainable future that continues to be the subject of so much debate today. To support this aim Gastech will continue to grow, by broadening our hydrogen and low carbon solutions content and theatres, and by launching our new climate tech initiative, looking at companies investing in innovative solutions to reach our global net zero aims.”

Gastech 2023 will be hosted at the Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11-14 September 2023, with support from Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board. The conference will provide delegates with real-world insights that will enable them to better understand the complexity of Asia’s evolving energy needs, including power generation and distribution, the financing of net zero projects, and how regulation and policy will impact growth opportunities for gas, LNG, low-carbon gases including hydrogen, and climate technologies.

Gastech, which takes place in a different location each year, will draw more than 40,000 international visitors from across the energy value chain to Singapore. Attendees include heads of state and government, energy ministers, CEOs, and global business leaders, through to management and operational-level executives, engineers, scientists, and emerging talent.

The exhibition will feature over 750 exhibitors demonstrating innovations and services across the energy value chain. There will be dedicated industry zones and 20 country pavilions showcasing international companies.
